Applications

Canadian Applicants
Residents of Canada, who are currently in the 3rd year of training at a Royal College accredited internal medicine residency, please refer to the Canadian Resident Matching Service (CaRMS) for eligibility requirements, deadlines, and required documentation. Applications are to be made directly through CaRMS.  Graduates of foreign medical schools must be Landed Immigrants or Canadian citizens prior to date of application and fulfill the prerequisites outlined by CaRMS in order to apply via the CaRMS match.

This path leads to eligibility for certification in Rheumatology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

Foreign-Sponsored Applicants
If you are a foreign-sponsored application or visa trainee (with funding from Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, or the United Arab Emirates), please contact the UBC Postgraduate Medical Education Office directly.  Please note ALL applicants must provide proof of external funding, as well as satisfy the BC College of Physicians and Surgeons stringent English Language Proficiency Requirements, outlined here, BEFORE applying.

Interviews
Interviews are held in late September to early October of the year prior to the anticipated start date. Candidates will be notified of interview details, once all completed application materials have been received.  Our next interview date is scheduled for Friday October 2, 2020.  Please note that interviews may not be offered to all applicants.

Interviews are held in round robin format of 3 sessions, with two individual interviews with teams of Postgraduate Committee members, of approximately 20 minutes each, and one individual or group session of 20 minutes with the current trainees, in which candidates have a chance to ask questions about the program.  As of 2020, this interview process will be virtual.
